Program Contents

One of the first places visitors from all over the world want to visit in Osaka is the Ebisubashi Bridge. However, as a rule, washing the bridge over the river is done by hand and requires the help of many people!
Please join us with your family, by yourself, with friends, or with your colleagues. And as you polish, try to find the charming points (your favorites) built into this bridge.

・You can apply for multiple programs.
On the day, you will be assigned to work with the general participants, shopkeepers, residents of Chuo Ward, Osaka City, and staff from local companies.
We will provide cleaning supplies. Please come in old clothes and shoes that you don't mind getting dirty.
There is no place to store luggage, so please participate with your belongings on you.

Ebisu Bridge

It is believed to have been built around 1615, almost at the same time the Dotonbori River was excavated. The name of the bridge comes from the fact that it serves as the approach to Imamiya Ebisu Shrine, and it is also the origin of the name of this shopping district, which lies along the "Ebisu-bashi" route. In the Edo period, it was a wooden bridge 3.9 meters wide; in 1878, it became an iron bridge 7.8 meters wide; and in 1925, it became a reinforced concrete arch bridge 10.9 meters wide. Major renovations of the bridge occurred at least 15 times on record, and reconstruction work took place in 2007 for the first time in 82 years. A circular plaza on the bridge has been established and is popular as a space for taking photos with the Glico sign and the river in the background.
